They discovered why Sarah Palin did better than expected last night. She paid off Tina Fey to sub for her.
But I digress…
1) Ever hear of Commotio Cordis? No, he wasn’t Julius Caesar’s chiropracter. Nevertheless, here is a case report and a little primer on the condition.

2) Here are a table and a graph from MMWR about some epidemiological aspects of HIV in the U.S. It’s amazing the disparity between Black males and other populations with this disease.

3) There’s mounting pressure on the FDA to ban cough-and-cold preps for much of the pediatric population. I’m not sure how they would go about that. I mean, if you ban those kiddie meds in all the retail outlets and pharmacies, is it possible that parents would buy the OTC adult version and “doctor” it up in some fashion and then give it to their kids?

4) It’s official. A new antibiotic is being launched. It’s called Doribax. It’s a new carbapenem antibiotic. It’s been approved for the treatment of complicated intra- abdominal infections, as well as nosocomial pneumonia and ventilator associated pneumonia in adult patients. How long will it be before we start ordering it in the ER?

5) Here is a link to a HAZMAT response guide that might interest you since you went through PAPR training.
