About Omni

Mission Statement

Omni Health Services’ mission is to provide cost effective, efficient, high quality emergency medicine services in a democratic, equitable environment.

History and Vision

Omni Health Services, Ltd. (Omni) was founded in 1998 and is dedicated to the independent practice of emergency medicine. Our desire was to change the way emergency medicine groups were managed in the Northwest Ohio area. Our physician members are not independent contractors or non-equity employees and they therefore have an incentive to meet the expectations of the client hospitals. We deliberately organized as a limited liability corporation, which is the most flexible structure to accommodate the needs of all Omni physicians. We created a democratic, equitable group. The group culture of a democratic organization of emergency physicians, dedicated to effective management and clinical excellence at each of our hospital contracts, is the foundation of our success. Our corporation maintains complete control of its governance, operations, and internal finances. We have no outside owners or investors.

Our first contract was to staff the Defiance Hospital Emergency Center. We added the ProMedica Air helicopter transport contract in 1999 and the Bay Park Community Hospital contract in November of 2001.

The Facilities

Defiance Regional Medical Center is the western hub of the ProMedica Health System. The Emergency Center will treat approximately 21,000 patients in 2005. DRMC is a level III trauma center. Major trauma and cardiac cases requiring intervention are transferred out. The emergency center has eight treatment rooms and four Express Care rooms. One room is designed for ENT; one room is designed for GYN; one room is designed for psychiatric patients; one double room is designed for trauma. A decontamination room is adjacent to the ambulance entrance. A 32 slice CT and an MRI scanner are just down the hall.

Bay Park Community Hospital opened on November 5, 2001. This 70-bed hospital is the eastern hub of the ProMedica Health System. The hospital is the prototype that was replicated in Defiance. The volume is expected to be about 26,000 in 2005. BPCH has double coverage from 3 P.M. to 11 P.M. each day. The emergency center has nine treatment rooms and an observation area.

ProMedica Air is a helicopter transport service that started in March of 1999. We currently transport about 500 patients per year. This is a combination of scene runs and inter-hospital transfers. The helicopter is staffed with an Emergency Physician, an Emergency Nurse, and the pilot.

Candidate profile

Omni seeks candidates who desire to practice high-quality, cost-efficient emergency medicine in a supportive environment. A cooperative team spirit is necessary. Board certification in emergency medicine by ABEM or its Canadian or Osteopathic equivalent is mandatory.
